The leader is obvious, one of the unusual high short hood GP 30's only NW and Southern got; the third unit is ex Central of Georgia and carries its C of G number. The trailing unit is actually at home; it's sublettered for the CNO&TP. |

Most of the through freights I saw this day had six axle power. One that didn't was this one, which came south with four 4 axle units. Interestingly for you numbercrunchers, the two units to the right had opposing numbers. Note GP 30, number 2625, and ahead of it, GP 35 2526. A GE rounds out the shot. |

The power that was on the Strasburg Local that day is now back in Manassas, tied up for tomorrows activity. Note the type B trucks under the GP 35's, the result of being used from trade in Alcos. For those of you who remember when MTV used to actually run music videos, youll recall Steve Winwood had a song out in the early 80s called "Back In the High Life Again" that featured a Southern Railway train switching. This was the train, the rail sequences shot here in Manassas. |
