Snoot |
Description: |
UP had a group of SD40-2s that were known as "snoots" due to their lengthened short hoods. These were set up to carry radio equipment for remote power, then a novel idea which required some specialized equipment. Heres one of them leading a train on the ex Wabash. |

Autos arriving |
Description: |
An auto rack train arrives at Kansas City on the ex Wabash. We have a "family portrait" of NS power here, one unit in NS and one each of the predecessors. The SD45 is not long for the world at this point, nor are the open racks. I had seen the second unit before-on the Southern at Greensboro in 1980. |
