U30Cs were getting hard to find by the late 80s. UP had retired most of theirs, as had Santa Fe, though BNs soldiered on in coal service. D&Hs own were long gone by this time. This CSX unit strayed up from the south, finding its way to East Binghamton on PYRP. I can count on the fingers of one hand the U30Cs I saw here, so this was a good catch. |

| Description: |
Even with all the odd and obscure power coming through Binghamton, this was a surprise. Big GE's were almost unknown on these trains, so to catch not only a C30-7, but a U30C, which were becoming rare by then, on a stack was really a treat. SLN 3(DHT 9 on Conrail) takes to the Tier for its run to Buffalo. |
