Description: |
CSX is unusual among class 1 roads, in that it starts its locomotive numbering with 1. This is the lowest numbered unit I have seen, #9, leading 109 cars of K 277 at South Plainfield as it heads for, among other places, a landfill in the south, as much of the consist is trash containers. |

Description: |
Conrail leading arm LMS had a group of C40-8s that it shared with CN, but which were painted CR blue. One of them has made it onto CSX, and is leading this 84 car auto rack train west. Note also the second unit, a GP 15-1. This is one of the units CSX got in the Conrail split-CR had 100 of them, new in 1979. Chessie acquired 25 of its own, a turbocharged variation called a GP15T-1, in 1982. |

Past the model set |
Description: |
The buildings trackside at Waverly look like something out of an Athearn catalog. 41T rolls through town, adding to the model railroad feel of the scene. |

Westbound in the gloom |
Description: |
A westbound auto rack train holds at a siding near Newkirk NM, behind UP and CSX power. This is where shooting through bus windows really sucks. The light is bad to begin with, and the tinted windows only make it worse. The only thing saving this shot is that the train was sitting still. |
