After I shot the head end at the station, I went up to the US 59 overpass just to the south. The shot is not as open as I remember it, but now that Ive lived here 15 years, Im finding that there are a lot of places that were good shots, that are now overgrown, especially in late summer. I still managed a shot of the DPU going away, an unusual mix of power. |

I was sitting at a light when this train showed up on the overpass. Fortunately, I keep the camera at the ready for just such an occasion. The only thing that made it a challenge was the tow truck that turned as I took the shot, partly obscuring the lead unit, and throwing off the auto focus. Thats the chance you take with a grab shot. |

I spent an afternoon at Manchester, which was well worth the effort, though the cloudy skies didnt help much. I have to go back on a clear day. There are several good photo locations there. The best is the view off the GA 85 overpass, which yielded this view of a southbound off the Lineville Sub coming in for a crew change with 135 cars. |

I was headed to Stevenson to set up for the day, and saw this train rolling east as I was westbound on US 72. Its a divided highway, so I had to go another half mile the wrong direction, then get turned around and run all the way through Bridgeport, which is SLOW!! I was able to get ahead before the bridge, but it was a grab shot out the window of this Georgia Power coal train. |

After shooting the meet of the grain train and the H train DPU, I ran down to county road C in Goodman to get the H train coming around the curve by the signal. I had been parked maybe three minutes, and the gates went down. I didnt see the H train, then heard a horn behind me. I was able to get out and grab this shot of a 137 car H train with a CSX leader. He beat me to the south end of Mc Elhany, so I didnt get another shot, electing instead to stay with the southbound, which had much better lighting, especially since I was running out of daylight. |
