An RS 3 rebuilt at Dewitt shop in Syracuse works the ex Erie Croxton yard, pulling a cut of cars over County Rd. This switch didn't do so well. Look at the lead truck on the box car. Oh well. Some days things just don't go right. |

RS 3 rebuild |
| Description: |
Conrail early on did a rebuild program for RS 3s where they took old EMD 567 engines, primarily from E units, rebuilt them and installed them in RS 3 bodies, eventually totalling 100 units. Here one of them pulls a cut of cars at County Road crossing at Croxton Yard. In about two more minutes, the Southern boxcar behind the unit would derail. |

| Description: |
The cut of cars that CR 9943 was pulling across County Rd had a small problem. The Southern box car right behind the engine picked a switch and wound up spread over two tracks. They had another yard engine pull the rest of the train back into the yard, and commenced tryng to rerail the box, but an hour later, they were still having at it, since it did not seem to want to get back up on the rails. Just another day at the office!! |
