First generation goodies |
Description: |
Were passing the Chicago engine facility just outside Union Station, where first generation power is holding sway. A pair of Es, a GP 7 from the PC Valpo train, and an SW 1 shop switcher dominate the scene, quite typical of the time. Note the building in the background, the Continental Paper Grading Co. I had no idea my teachers were sending my term papers here to get graded. I thought they did it all themselves :-) |

In and out |
Description: |
The action is heavy at the station throat. Ex UP 763 pushes the Southwest Chief into the station, as an ancient Conrail SW 1 pulls storage mail out of the Post Office for assingment to Amtrak trains. |

Putting it together |
Description: |
A section crew works near the coach yard for the CR train, getting good and sweaty on this hot August day. The yard power behind them is an ancient SW 1, and even more ancient P 70 coaches, still in their Penn Central green. |
