Racing
Title:  Racing
Description:  My friend David Sommer was in town on his way west, and we had a couple of days to check out the action. Monday was a washout, but we went out anyway, catching this westbound as we arrived in Neosho. I beat him here to Racine, but he was racing. We did our best to keep up, but staying at 65 MPH on that two lane blacktop was not in the cards.

Leaning to the curve
Title:  Leaning to the curve
Description:  I was heading south on US 54 where it crosses the Santa Fe, and knew I was just far enough ahead of this westbound to get the shot off the bridge. The timing was perfect, and I nailed it, as the train swung into view just as I got out of the van. Five units, including a way out of its lane Grinstein SD 70, lead a westbound into the sun past a long string of JB Hunt boxes on an eastbound.

Stacks in the desert
Title:  Stacks in the desert
Description:  A view from the bus as we rolled west, stacks roll east through typical New Mexico scenery. The motion and bounciness of the bus don't help the sharpness, but the biggest handicap is the tinted windows, which drop the shutter speed-or f stop, depending how you're set up-dramatically.
