Eight units!!
Title:  Eight units!!
Description:  When I got to Watts, the 262 was working at the south end, but was going to hold for a northbound. I went to Westville, thinking that would be the northbound with CP 7030 on it. I was correct, and a few minutes later, I heard the dispatcher telling a 261 his work at Watts. Here he is, eight units and 60 cars. The decal for the Strathconas can be seen on the nose of the third unit. Well look at that in more detail shortly.

I played chase til Gravette, where I was finally able to get ahead far enough to set up a shot. Here is the quarry, the 181 train, having just crossed Dallas St.

Canned going north
Title:  Canned going north
Description:  We were heading to breakfast after our senior light aerobics class, and saw this train sitting on the bridge, just like thea couple nights earlier. I had to go past the head end anyway, so I was able to get a shot, but it turned out it was now a second train, an empty AEPX train headed north. He had a UP leader, not unusual for these trains, and four more units trailing. When I came back the next day, the three trailing units had been picked up, leaving the two head end unit on the train. It sat here a good 36 hours before moving.

Hide and seek
Title:  Hide and seek
Description:  We were coming back from a short shopping trip in town, and heard a train blowing for the crossings. As we crossed over the tracks on US 412, I could see the signal lit red at the south end of the siding. Hmmm....he's still in the block. We swung around onto Lincoln and headed north, the train still on the crossing, moving very slowly. We beat him up to Davidson Rd, where he was taking a red signal, and talking to the dispatcher. I got a hide and seen shot of the head end behind a great climbing tree.

Took a while
Title:  Took a while
Description:  After the meet with the 181, it took us a while to catch back up to the coal train, which had a good roll once he cleared the siding at Siloam. Driving through Siloam can be a real chase killer due to the traffic and lights. He beat us to Westville, so our next shot wasnt til here at Baron, where the train is passing an old church.

Passing the automatic
Title:  Passing the automatic
Description:  The coal train passes the automatic at MP 250. Even this late in the day, the sun still has not come around to the west side of the tracks, though the brightness of the BNSF nose makes for a nice contrast with the shadow side of the train.
