We see 165 rolling north behind a typical set of 40s, with 91 cars in tow, at GR cabin. This was one of my favorite spots to catch a northbound. It was easy to get to, right off NY 7 in Afton-and made a good prop. It was also close enough to Binghamton to chase here, get the shot and get back. A bonus was that there were often meets here, which meant a train both ways. These signals will be replaced by NS, who now owns the line, and one more distinctive feature of northeastern railroading will vanish. |

The bridge over NY 7 is over 100 years old, and still in service. Train 165s lead unit is atop the structure as it works hard up to the tunnel. The ROW could use some tree work, if for no other reason than to help out the photographers!! |
