Seaboard, RF&P and Chessie revived an old passenger train name to boost a pair of intermodal trains between Jersey and Florida. It was easy to spot, as it had RF&P power leading north of Richmond, due to the cab signalling unique to them. The power often ran through to Jersey, as on this days edition, seen at Anacostia in DC. Check out the Conrail IH maintenance truck at left. |

I must have dozed off in the car. This was not uncommon, as I worked nights most of the time, and would head out on a railfan trip after working til midnight or so. By the middle of the next day, I was pretty tired, and the sitting that goes with railfanning would put me out-til a train showed!! Heres a southbound RF&P train passing Alexandria, caught on the run at the station. |
