One of my favorite photo spots was along NY 17C about two miles east of Waverly, where this down on shot showed not only the train, but the expanse of the valley as well. Train 891 adds to the scenery on this June evening. Note the D&H lettering on the 4th head car. These cars were on their last legs by this time. Also, note the semaphore on track 2 at far left. This was one of the last ones to go. |

I was able to catch up to this 891 after the shot from NY 17C, as he was slowing for the signal at Waverly to meet an eastbound. At speed, cathing a train here after getting him at the previous location was impossible. |

A southbound with one yellow and two blue GATX lease units crosses CR at BD and heads for CPs yard with 81 cars. My notes say this is a 261, but that cant be right. Im thinking its 554, which would be correct for the time of day, but ut usually didnt get lease power. Ah, aging brain cells. |
