Eastbound vans |
Description: |
This shot of TV 14 train shows the 1957 built NYC station, which was the Amtrak station in use at the time. It was functional if aesthetically lacking. |

Westbound across the yard |
Description: |
As the afternoon got later, I moved to the other side of the yard(public street over there) and shot the action as it continued. This 105 car westbound was rolling through. |

TV 79 |
Description: |
TV 79 was a hot van train that ran through to Santa Fe to become their 199 train. It got priority over pretty much everything. Here it is behind typical power for this type train at that time, a quartet of GP40-2s. |

TV 79 |
Description: |
TV 79 was one of the hottest trains on the railroad, only a little cooler than TVLA, which was a direct run through to the Santa Fe. TV 79 also handled Santa Fe traffic, but did not run through, and had to transfer across Chicago. I think it may have also handled cars for Chicago delivery at 51st St. Here we see it blasting through the station behind a four unit set of GP 40-2s, a common power set for this type train. |

JC coal |
Description: |
A UNE coal train with 87 cars for the NYSEG Goudy Generating Station on the old DLW main in Johnson City rolls into the west side of Binghamton. For some reason, these trains drew 4 axle power most of the time, even though the road units rarely went to the plant. Local power off WABH 11 usually took the cars down in roughly 45 car cuts. |
