H 88
Title:  H 88
Description:  H 88 was the turn job that ran Gang Mills to Binghamton. Though like most NS trains, it usually got a pair of GE widecabs, anything could and did show up. Here it is at Hiawatha Rd in Owego behind a pair of widecabs, this day they belong to BNSF. This set ran on H 88 for several weeks.

Cluttered
Title:  Cluttered
Description:  The scene here is filled with urban clutter, showing that not all railroading is done in wonderfully scenic locations. H 88 gets underway from Binghamton behind a pair of BNSF units, crossing State St on the old Erie steel viaduct leading to the Chenango River bridge. The famous Kingsley Building is the backdrop for the action.

Under the connector
Title:  Under the connector
Description:  H 88 rolls under the Apalachin-Campville connector, built to ease traffic congestion through Endicott. It made a good spot for taking train photos.

Chasing east for a change
Title:  Chasing east for a change
Description:  I noted in the comments on the main part of this album that I tended to chase westbound from the Binghamton area. Sometimes things worked the other direction. I had just shot an eastbound CP train, and heard on the radio H 88 was following, so I went back to Owego to wait for him. This was the surprise at Hiawatha Rd-a pair of BNSF GEs leading 39 cars for NYSW and CP at Binghamton-in the sun, yet.

Title:  Mixed widecabs
Description:  H 88, ever changing motive power, this day has a pair of widecabs, merging east and west en route to Binghamton. Note the new signal on track 2. It replaced the last semphore on the Southern Tier, which was about 1/4 mile to the west.

H 2 on H 88
Title:  H 2 on H 88
Description:  NS would keep power sets on some trains for a long time. In this case, it was a pair of BNSF units that ran on H 88 for over a month. They were painted in the then current "Heritage II" scheme, as this predated the "swoosh" by several years. This day I chased them out to Chemung, catching them and all of nine cars from my usual perch on NY 427 as they round the curve past the now privately owned Erie station, which can be seen in the crook of the curve.
