By the feed dealer |
Description: |
An H train rolls south past the feed store in Westville on a quiet Saturday. The trailing four units are local power picked up at Watts, and destined for a date at the shop for servicing before going back for the week's local work. |

Pulling past |
Description: |
The H train spent some time working the Watts yard. Some of it is spent waiting for the signal, since they must pull south of the siding for head room. Heres the road power at the switch, pulling down to shove a cut into the yard. |

Whats happening |
Description: |
The road power for the H train poses at the sign along US 59 at the south end of town. Pay attention to that "radar controlled" sign. Watts gets about half its town budget from traffic fines. The cops here are active watching for speeders in the 40 MPH zone through town. This area will soon see changes to the roadway. The two lane there now will become four, probably during 2016. ODOT has already acquired the right of way, and demolished the few buildings still left there. |

Welcome back |
Description: |
The KCS Heavener Sub was closed for three days following a 10" rain event that undercut the track for about a half mile north of the Illinois River, and about 1/4 mile south of the bridge, including inundating the north end of Watts siding. This H train is the first one I saw going north, the line now open. Its supposed to rain again this week, but less than 2" this time. Keeping our fingers crossed. |

First train |
Description: |
At least, the first one I saw. Most of the washout repair looked like it was done the previous day, though they were still tamping and surfacing when I was in Watts. Now its Tuesday evening, and this 131 car H train is rolling north across Lincoln Av at 1900. There may have been others during the day, I just did not see them. Its good to see trains running again. Amazing how much the track crews accomplished in a short time. Bringing up the rear is KCS 4034 as distributed power. |

Roadside |
Description: |
One of the better places to catch a train when on a chase, and also one of the last places to lose the light in the evening is here along MO 59 just south of Anderson. The northbound H train rolls toward KC with four Belles and a new UP unit. |

Class unit |
Description: |
The southbound grain train called the signal at North Gentry, then announced itself by blowing for the crossing. As it came around the bend, the lead unit turned out to be the SD70ACe class unit. It was originally gray, now repainted into the Belle scheme. |
