Description: |
Dad made a trip to Washington in January 1972, I dont recall why. He took the train down, rather than fly, for all the reasons people take the train. He got this shot looking from the concourse toward the trains shed, where he found Metroliners in Amtrak colors, as well as some still painted PC. Look to the far right-theres an MP 54 up to the bumping post, still in Tuscan red. |

Title: |
Metroliner |
Description: |
The Metroliner was still a fairly new thing in 1972, having gone into service only about four years earlier. They were popular, now that they had overcome some of the teething problems that come with new technology. A set painted for Amtrak is on the adjacent track. The bright colors would last a decade. |
