Looking down the line |
Description: |
A parked ethanol train sits outside Waseca, waiting for a crew. In the distance is a typical facility, a grain bin. Now that the fury has died down over ethanol, there remain quite a few plants dedicated to its production in the upper midwest, and the trains serving them are many. |

Ethanol |
Description: |
Where I live, on the KCS, tank trains are usually oil headed south to Gulf Coast refineries. Up here in corn country, its usually ethanol. There are a lot of plants here. This train that we see in its element was on what was once the C&NW, then became the DM&E, and now CP. Need a scorecard to tell the players!! |

Nose on |
Description: |
An ethanol train sits in a siding near Waseca waiting on a recrew, as a sign of the reason for many of these trains existence looms in the distance. Hard to believe that 30 years ago, this line was a C&NW cast off, part of the aborning DM&E, and I was chasing ex MILW SDL 39's here. That road was acquired by CP, and now is once again in the Class I fold, with big time power again plying its rails. |
