Actually, this is one of the slower parts of the Transcon across the Texas panhandle. There is a hilly segment near Canadian, where the line crosses the Canadian River and its valley, making for some hard pulls. This 89 platform eastbound looks like it will make the grade. |

I was driving east on US 60, and had followed this train since coming off Loop 335 in Amarillo. Id about get to the head end, then hit a town. Slow down to 40, lose ground, then catch up about the time Id have to slow down for another town. The speed limit was 70 for both trains and on the road, and these guys dont waste any time out here. This is a grab shot from US 60 near Pampa. |
