Rare sight
Title:  Rare sight
Description:  The KCS had 70 of these SD70MACs lettered for TFM. Not long after I moved to Siloam, they started to renumber and reletter them KCS, putting them in the 3900 series. Now, almost ten years into that program, there are still a few TFM units left, but not very many. I was in the right place at the right moment to catch this one on the rear of a TXUX coal train, along with a KCSM unit assisting the through road power.

Hard curve
Title:  Hard curve
Description:  The H train has pulled down for headroom as it works the Watts yard, coming around the hard curve south of South Watts. A tele lens brings in the hillside behind the train, as if to drive home the point that Oklahoma aint all flat. Theres a reason there are DPUs on most trains here.

Wide view
Title:  Wide view
Description:  The wide view from the closed roadhouse on US 59 reveals this long shot of the H train off the Illinois River bridge, approaching CP North Watts. The KCS has cleared a lot of brush on the bridge approach, making this shot possible. Its a good one.

Surprise from not so far off
Title:  Surprise from not so far off
Description:  The KCS is only about an hour away, over near Stilwell, and they connect with the UPs ex MP Van Buren sub in that town in Arkansas. But you dont see a lot of their power here. For the second week in a row, I found KCS power on the UP. Those coal train must have racked up a lot of horsepower hours. A KCSM unit brings up the rear of this 110 car train as it crosses SR 51 and heads for KC.
