Album Info:The Arkansas & Missouri runs a number of trips for passengers, mostly out of Springdale going to Van Buren, but others as well over various part of the railroad. This album is devoted to those trips. Christmas trains are in their own albums.

Frisco Days
Title:  Frisco Days
Description:  Every year in late summer, Rogers Ark has a festival called Frisco Days, which brings artists, vendors, and entertainment to the area near the former Frisco station downtown. A&M takes riders on a short trip to Lowell and return. This years power was C 420 56, seen at Rogers

Description:  The excursion to Purdy did an unusual runby, in which photographers were dropped at the end of the overpass over MO 37 to get a shot of the train crossing the bridge. Note, the right pier has "Frisco RR" molded into the concrete.

The place to ride

Description:  This ex LIRR coach was modified so it now has a rear platform, a feature it did not have when it was running to Oyster Bay and Montauk-we just had to stand in the vestibule and toss our empties out the back(hey, it was the 70s). Now the car has been fitted as a chair car, with this veranda on the back to allow a more proper view of the panoramic scenery of the Ozarks. Seen here leaving Winslow.

Description:  The excursion has passed through Van Buren, and is now waiting on the Arkansas River lift bridge to lower. The head end is looking squarely at the counterweight to the lift span, which serves as a smashboard to keep a train from rolling into the river. It will be another 15 minutes til the bridge goes up, despite the lack of river traffic.
