LIRR Parlor Car trip  Contributor's Pick!
The Electric Railroaders Association in New York sponsored a parlor car trip on the LIRR. It ran, among other places, Greenport, the only time I have taken the train there. The cars were modified P 72 coaches, set up with a bar/food service area, and armchairs. Five years earlier, theres a good chance it would have been run with heavyweight and streamlined cars, handed down from long distance trains displaced by Amtrak.
