Oldest F unit  Contributor's Pick!
At the time I took this shot, there were a group of F 3s that rotated on and off the "Plug" as the ex GM&O train to Joliet was known. At the time, it was the only train on this line, a poor stepchild to ICGs electrified service to Matteson. The F 3s had the distinction of being the oldest road power then in use on a Class 1 road, having been built in 1946. There are now several trains on this route, but they dont have any of the charm of an F 3 and ex GM&O coaches.
