Album Info:Caught this local working George's Foods warehouse in Springdale while out one afternoon. It's not the most exciting thing to watch, but it's what gets the cars spotted so we have big trains to watch.

Description:  I was out Christmas shopping and took a swing through Springdale to see if anything was going on. As I crossed US 412, this local was backing toward Georges. Here he is waiting for his ground man to throw a switch after pulling some empties.

Description:  The train has pulled out of the siding with four cars. The ground man has restored the switch, and the train now starts backing toward the five cars on the main. There are another 24 cars about a 1/2 mile to the north, left there to avoid blocking crossings.

Title:  Just cross in front
Description:  I dont know if a crewman waved this guy across. The ground man was walking up to the engine after connecting the air and getting the train ready for the next road move, so it was sitting still. If it were me, Id have made absolutely sure I had the train crews OK before I crossed in front of it.

Title:  Now were cooking!!
Description:  The local has retrieved its other cars and is now making a run for its next stop, most likely Tysons mill just down the road in Johnson. I didnt have time to go after it, but I did get this shot of him pulling the grade from a standing start. Look at that pall above the train!! The sight and sound of a pair of Alcos, something I have not seen on a regular basis since I watched the LIRR years ago, is an awesome sensory experience.
